A 50-years daily surface solar radiation dataset over 716 China meteorological stations

 

1.     Introduction

The daily surface solar radiation dataset was produced by merging two data sets. One is the hybrid model estimate at 716 CMA stations and the other is the ANN-based model estimate at 96 radiation stations. The latter, which has higher accuracy, was used to correct the hybrid model estimate dynamically at a monthly scale. This dataset covers the period of 1961 ~ 2010 and 716 China Meteorological Administration (CMA) stations. The dataset can be used for hydrological modeling, land surface modeling, engineering applications, and some radiation-related scientific studies.

3. Data archive and access

 

The dataset contains 716 CMA stations data, and each station has one file and the file is named as xxxxx.txt (e.g. 50136.txt), where xxxxx is the five-digital code number of the station. Each file was stored as ASCII format, and each line of the file contains four variables, which is corresponds to year, month, day, and daily mean solar radiation (W m-2). The missing value is denoted by "99999.0". A file named station.txt is also included in the dataset, which gives the geographical information of longitude, latitude and altitude for each station.
